Jolly Jordan
2009 Sailing Camp

May 2 and 3rd was a very busy weekend for LNYC Juniors. Travis Tucker, Kalyn Gise, Kyle and Garret Merganthaler, and Jordan Wiggins all traveled to Atlanta and attended an OPTI Race Clinic and Regatta at Atlanta Yacht Club. They had 8 races and some great instruction. Jordan Wiggins finished 3rd in Blue, 3rd overall. All the sailors sailed very well and learned a lot!

Alex Jones, Kelly and Brad Milliken, and Ashlyn Park traveled to Boiling Springs in Southport for a SAYRA Opti and Sunfish event. The wind blew 20 knots with gusts to 25! It was good to sail in very high wind conditions and all the kids trophied! Brad won the Sunfish fleet and Ashlyn the Opti fleet. Ashlyn was also recognized for assisting another sailor with an on the water rudder repair (not easy in 20 kts) and was given the Corinthian spirit award by the Regatta Chair.
Sarah Chambers was invited to attend a Woman’s 420 clinic at Annapolis Yacht club with Jay Kehoe on Easter weekend. Sarah Chambers and Dana Rohde (Savannah Sailing Center) will be sailing in the Ida Lewis championship in Hampton Roads,Va in June. It was an intensive two day event training on the water and in the class room with the other competitors that will be attending the regatta.
